The newest members of Habitat SHR's family of supporters have hit the ground running this past couple of months! Habitat Young Professionals (HYP) has already taken part in their first build, and hosted their first social event! HYP was formed to provide young professionals an opportunity to not only network and socialize but to also give back to the community through service. Their mission is to bring young professionals together through networking and community to build hope, homes and help break the cycle of poverty for the South Hampton Roads region.
Several of our members came out to our rehab in Virginia Beach and helped build the fence and helped with other tasks around the build site. They are very excited about being able to build monthly with our construction crew, when the schedule permits it. Their next build will take place in June, because we have booked a Team Build on their usual date.
HYP also had their first social event at Makers Craft Brewery on Church Street in Norfolk. Several guests came to see what the group is all about and everyone enjoyed the chance to share a drink and some time networking and getting to know one another.
