This Week in Construction

The past few weeks we’ve made some great progress on our build at Stonehurst in South Norfolk. Our subcontractors passed all their rough in inspections and we passed our framing inspection. The insulation went in and our wallboard sub hung the wallboard and mud and sanded the seams. Meanwhile, our volunteers and the Home Builders Institute students continued to hang the siding on the entire house. The porches have been decked, and the posts and beams have all been trimmed out.

We hosted Team Builds with Bank of America for their yearly Global Build and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). We also had some great volunteer groups come out to work including our regular volunteer partners at AGI, Crescent Bank, and NFCU, as well as, Women in Code Enforcement and Development (WICED) who joined us for their first group build.

This week we will be working on painting the walls, hanging the kitchen cabinets and doors and then start working on the trim. We should be on track to be finished by the beginning of November for our home buyers the Robertsons to close on the house and be moved in around Thanksgiving.

We are in the process of applying for the building permits for our next build in downtown Suffolk, and hope to start working on the foundation at the beginning of November. We are thrilled to be partnering with our Build Sponsors, Birdsong Peanuts, and will be hosting a ground breaking soon at the site on Pitchkettle Road.
