Habitat for Humanity is a collection of unique partnerships with donors, volunteers, and families in need of safe, decent housing. Habitat SHR is fortunate to have healthy bonds with businesses of all sizes, big-hearted individuals, and local faith communities of diverse beliefs.

 

Habitat for Humanity welcomes persons and groups of all faiths and was founded on Christian principles. From the long-term support of Methodists and Presbyterians to our newer relationships in the Jewish community and elsewhere, faith communities have an integral role in our mission and history.

 

Habitat SHR is redesigning its Faith In Action program to expand our partnerships with area houses of worship, improve communication with our faith partners, and offer additional opportunities to collaborate and transform lives in the South Hampton Roads community. If you are a church leader interested in participating, please contact volunteer@shrhabitat.org.

 

Faith Communities help support volunteer efforts, special events, fundraisers and serve on the Volunteer Committee. We call these efforts and leaders, “Faith-In-Action.” If you would like to join our Volunteer Committee please email volunteer@shrhabitat.org.  The committee’s greatest focus is a speakers group, Habitat Ambassadors. Ambassadors and committee members represent Habitat SHR at community fairs, conferences, and area schools. The committee supplies volunteers for events when needed and are partners in promoting the mission of eliminating poverty housing in South Hampton Roads.​
