Qualified Charitable Distributions (IRA)
If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA helps reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), and IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! To help you get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own, or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.
Beneficiary Designations
Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life-insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? If so, these are called non-probate assets and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online too to make your plans and designate us as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.

Host a Team Build
Improve employee morale through a full and inspirational day on a Habitat construction site. A typical donation and group size is $3,500 for up to 12 volunteers or $5,000 for up to 20. Customized packages are available to cater to larger groups' needs. Additionally, we can easily accommodate corporate groups with multiple construction events scheduled on different dates. Many corporations generously support us by organizing multiple Team Build events throughout the year, making Habitat SHR their annual philanthropic focus.

Cans for Cash
Collect your empty aluminum cans in recycling bags and bring them to our offices at:
900 Tidewater Drive Monday -Saturday between 9am-4:30pm.
You can drop them at the end of the wheelchair ramp on the left side of our building inside the gates.
Saturdays, if the gate on the left side of our building isn't open, come into the ReStore and ask someone for help.

Cars for Homes
We accept almost all vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, farm equipment and construction equipment. Your vehicle donation does not have to be running, but it must be whole and have four inflated tires so it can be moved by our towing operators.
Your vehicle will be sold on behalf of Habitat through a national network of auctions and direct buyers. After the vehicle has been sold, you will receive an acknowledgement letter providing your vehicle sale information.
