Youth Build

Youth Build - The Future is Building in South Hampton Roads

Next meeting - TBD

The youth of South Hampton Roads are coming together to raise the money that will be contributed to a house each year. This year they are raising funds to directly assist with 815 Garfield Street, Portsmouth, VA (for the Greene family).
Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads, Inc. (Habitat SHR) is developing an exciting initiative that invites youth, ages 5-25, to work together to fund and build a house in our community. A Youth Build targets young, enthusiastic volunteers to build a house, develops leadership skills, engage in positive service activities and experience the joy of helping others.

Benefits of Participating:

  • It will benefit the South Hampton Roads Community
  • Young people energized by community service will become dynamic community members and leaders. Habitat SHR projects can unify diverse racial, political, sectarian and ethnic groups, and build lasting relationships that strengthen individuals and the community. It will benefit each young person involved.
  • Working with Habitat SHR is a great way for young people to put their energy and commitment to good use and realize that they can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
  • It will benefit a local family currently living in poverty housing. Thanks to a group of youth volunteers, another family in South Hampton Roads will enjoy the blessings of a simple, decent home.
