Kiska Morris has wanted to be a homeowner for as long as she can remember. So it’s no surprise that being chosen for this year's building season by Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton Roads felt, as she puts it, &like winning the lottery". Kiska has a full plate working in a doctor’s office and going to school to be a physical therapist, but she has big plans for her new home. The first thing she hopes to do is host a dinner for all of her friends and family to thank them for their help and support during the process.
Kiska is also looking forward to the opportunity the new home will give her to spend quality time with her two boys, Vidal (16) and Keenan (11). She pictures them doing repairs together, taking care of the lawn, and just showing the community how much they love their home. As a single mother, Kiska enjoyed going to the homeownership classes with her son and sharing that valuable information with him as he prepares to help her run the household. "Just having something that is mine, that I can make a safe place for me and my family, is what homeownership is all about," said Kiska. "Having a home of our own will impact our lives tremendously."
