The Davis family currently lives in Virginia Beach and pays high rent. Yvonne is the single mother to Oneika, 17 years old, and Antione, 14 years old. Yvonne has worked for the Keefe Commissary for 4 years (fall 2010). She’s looking forward to "a place to call home". She graduated from Lake Taylor High School so she’s a native to the South Hampton Roads community. She grew up in Norfolk, in the Campostella projects, and wants her kids to have a better life and more opportunities.
Oneika is hoping for a happier home life. She is looking forward to not having to worry about certain things and she especially doesn’t want to see her mom struggling. The family loves the City of Virginia Beach and cried with joy when they learned they were selected (spring 2010). "It’s all a blessing", says Yvonne.
By becoming a homebuyer Yvonne hopes she can save more and fix the house if needed. The goal is for them all to attend college and achieve the goals they set later in life. Yvonne’s long term goal is a community oriented one – a safe place where kids can go after school.
